MRS Photography, LLC Photography by Martha Rhoades-Spivey
Photography has always been a part of Martha’s life. At a young age she picked up her Dad’s German single-reflex 35mm film camera. Those were the days of Kodachrome and Ektachrome unforgiving slide film, which captured vacations traveled via car and train across the states or Europe. Martha discovered a new creative approach by printing her own black and white prints for the high school yearbook in a darkroom without running water. Running water and temperature control is necessary for processing film and producing prints.
Martha’s photographic style was influenced by her college studies in photojournalism at University of Maryland in College Park and working for the daily school newspaper, The Diamondback. Martha’s favorite assignments included photographing college basketball and concerts. Additionally, found photographing a wide variety of sports and news events rewarding. After college, Martha worked for a professional photo lab in the Washington, DC area.
Martha is known by her family, friends, colleagues, and clients as a photojournalist with a passion to capture special moments for a lifetime of enjoyment.
